Artist Jeff Koons Unveils the BMW M3 Art Car in Miami

We'll agree that new BMW vehicles are nothing short of inspiring. That being said, whenever we lay eyes on a sleek, expertly tuned automobile, our Idaho Falls, ID staff's first inclination is to hit the road, not necessarily the canvas.

Recently, artist Jeff Koons combined his creative flair with his love for BMW style and the end result is a very colorful exhibition for Art Basel in Miami Beach, a rotating gala for modern art. The BMW M3 GT2 race car still supplies all kinds of grunt under the hood. However, the top of the nose is sporting a vibrant blend of hues, courtesy of Koons' brush.

As each Art Basel caters to the city it is being held in, this particular Miami installment paid special attention to artwork on wheels.

Discussing his piece and the event as a whole, Koons stated, "I always enjoyed the Art Cars - Warhol's Car, Roy Lichtenstein's car, Stella's, Calder's - all the cars have always been fantastic. I just wanted to participate. The art world is like a family and I wanted to also be involved in this dialogue of designing an Art Car. Today, I'm proud that this car is there alongside their work, too."1

Despite the fact that the vehicle is clad in a veritable rainbow of shades, it is actually quite a tasteful rendering. Here at BMW of Idaho Falls, we're willing to bet that those colors pop even more when the vehicle is blistering around the track.

To take in a few inspiring exhibitions for yourself, stop into our BMW dealer where we've got our favorite works of art on display Monday through Saturday.
